Security cameras
On the news recently it said that the British were among the most watched nations in the world. Does that make you feel safe or scared?
Third of Americans suspect 9-11 government conspiracy
Third of Americans suspect 9-11 government conspiracyMore than a third of the American public suspects that federal officials assisted in the 9/11 terrorist attacks or took no action to stop them so the United States could go to war in the Middle East, according to a new Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll. The national survey of 1,010 adults also found that anger against the federal government is at record levels, with 54 percent saying they "personally are more angry" at the government than they used to be.Widespread resentment and alienation toward the national government appears to be fueling a growing acceptance of conspiracy theories about the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.Suspicions that the 9/11 attacks were "an inside job" _ the common phrase used by conspiracy theorists on the Internet _ quickly have become nearly as popular as decades-old conspiracy theories that the federal government was responsible for President John F. Kennedy's assassination and that it has covered up proof of space aliens. Seventy percent of people who give credence to these theories also say they've become angrier with the federal government than...
security cameras on public streets - for or against?
Our city is debating installing them on a street where a lot of crime has been taking place. Many people are upset, because they feel like we're on the way to having big brother watching us.Personally I don't mind the idea. I can't imagine any government ever bothering to use them to spy on regular people (i.e. those not comitting crimes), and what would they catch us doing anyway? I think I'd actually feel safer, if we had them. At least if you got robbed or attacked, there would be video evidence of it.
WILL TV AND THE INTERNET BE COMBINED TOGETHER?
It would be a great asset if these two were sold together as one unit.Especially with all other units like dvds, music hi fi,security cameras etc, that plug in so that if one unit fails it can be replaced or upgraded. One lead for power would be a dream!Good idea yes/no?
Security Cameras and Privacy?-Does the individual have a right to privacy?
In the fight against crime, police forces and governments are increasingly using security cameras in public places. Some people are opposed to this, saying that it invades our privacy. What do you think?
How They Steal Your ATM Card........be aware read this
Maybe my parents were right in refusing to get an ATM card for close to a decade. ATM fraud is the latest craze (I've written about ATM scams previously) in petty theft. Despite the security cameras, thieves seem to be targeting ATMs in record numbers, probably because the end result—cold, hard cash—is impossible to trace (unlike a stolen credit card) and loses none of its value when liquidated (unlike your Barry Manilow record collection). The last scam I wrote about used an MP3 player to record bank account numbers and PIN codes. This scam, which seems much more commonplace, is far less high-tech. But rather than explaining at length, take a look at this series of security cam pictures, to see how a thief does the job. In a nutshell: He inserts a sliver of film into the slot, which traps your card when you insert it. Once it's stuck, he asks if you need help, gets you to give up your PIN code, and snags the card after you've left the machine, having given up hope. These little pieces of film are known as "Lebanese Loops."The Lebanese Loop is actually a pretty crude method for stealing cards. I linked to it in the prior post, but I'll link to it again, just because the...

Cameras Everywhere!
The growing trend is to have security cameras everywhere. You see them in stores, outside stores, at traffic lights... you name it. When you leave your home in the city you are almost always on somebody's camera. Does this bother you?I am grateful for these cameras actually. I live in a highrise and we have cameras in all the common areas, including the elevators and the garage. Today I went to the pharmacy (cameras inside and in the parking lot) and picked up my prescription narcotics. My drugs would sell well on the street and Im a bit paranoid about getting mugged for them. But I was on camera from my purchase to the car, and then again when I entered the parking garage at home. From there I was taped leaving the garage, entering the building, and all the way to my floor on the elevator. It did make me feel safer. What do you think?
Babysitters and Security Cameras
Do you think that if you have a sitter watching your kids while your at work you should have a security camera? I sure do. I can remember back when I was a child and my babysitter locked me in my bedroom as soon as my parents left and had guys over and partied all night long. She would not even let me out to get a drink of water or go to the bathroom. It took a long time before my parents believed me. It took her stealing my dads beatle albums and other things before he believed what I said. I went through torture for years. Boy do I wish they would have had a security camera on in that appartment. But back then there was no such thing. Please tell you stories about this and give your opinions.
Computing skills, More than you think?
Take a look around you? What do you see? Technology.By far the most powerful of them are computers. Computers, like any other machine require a user (unless your running a botnet) But initially, they need a human to operate. Put a man infront of a computer and he may browse. Put an intelligent man infront of a computer and he may study. Put an obsessive man infront of a computer and he may become a geek. But if you put a power craving man infront of a computer, he may exploit.Exploiting, for short, a term for hacking, with a computer INFRONT of you (mostly). This growing technology (amongst the most, Wi-Fi) is at a peak of growth. Its forever expanding. I'd like you to remember my quote, featured on my profile, not to seed a sense of paranoia but more of a sense of safety. "For every security, there is a security flaw". Hackers will exploit these flaws and may use them to their disadvantage.Off of the prologue to my question now, and on to a more detailed description before asking the Question.Wireless internet, its being used more often, and its EASILY hi-jackable. So easy infact, that you can almost walk RIGHT in. So what do they do? STICK IT ON OUR...
